I seem to have upset the Nigel Farage MP fan club - so let me be clear. This man sows hate, lies and division. He is a grifter and a conman. He does not represent the vast majority of Britons. RT if you agree P.s. multiculturalism is great.

It’s noticeable Labour are opting for “thuggish” as the descriptor for the rioters. I get it speaks to law and order. But the issue isn’t that they’re thugs - it’s that they’re racists. This is not general mindless violence. It is targeted attacks on Muslims and asylum seekers.

Fearless Zarah Sultana... Outnumbered and constantly interrupted by Ed Balls and his mates, she presses her points on politicians avoiding calling out Islamophobia by its name and being complicit in fuelling it - leaving Balls whimpering about her "spraying out attacks on us".

What we're seeing on our streets is fascism, and naming it is the first step to defeating it. These are not protests but white supremacist riots. They are attacking communities, targeting muslim citizens and asylum seekers and, like all fascists, holding the law in contempt. 1/

A reminder that, as a Government Minister, Robert Jenrick ordered the Home Office to paint over cartoon murals at a centre for unaccompanied children seeking asylum. The dehumanisation of migrants doesn't happen in a vacuum. Own it, and apologise for the part you have played.

During these times when billionaires are feted and celebrated, this is a timely reminder of why such wealth is undemocratic and dangerous. Money buys power and influence and makes the rich feel like they can weigh in to defend whatever project they like theguardian.com/technology/art…

Today Nigel Farage MP said he was mislead by Andrew Tate on the identity of the recent murder 1) A sitting MP should not rely on a famous vile misogynistic thug for their information 2) An MPs job is to fact check 3) No British MP should cosy up to Andrew Tate RT if you agree.

Past experience of using SEZs and freeports to promote regional growth is not encouraging: deeply concerning, therefore, that Rachel Reeves is blocking NAO from taking a look at whether the current crop are contributing to public welfare or merely enriching wealth extractors

GMB has been overwhelmed with complaints over Ed Balls’ vile interview with Zarah Sultana MP. He’s a factional operator who is as unpleasant as he is unprofessional, and it’s absurd that he has the job he has. mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/bre…

We urgently need a full and frank debate on the impact of how some politicians have whipped up hatred towards migrants and asylum seekers. Millions have felt insulted and threatened by this...

While I’ve never been more conscious of my own safety as I am now, I will not let fascist mobs stop me from speaking up. There are more of us determined to build a better, safer, equal and inclusive society for all. And we will win. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

The longest sentence handed down to a violent racist rioter this week is shorter than the sentences imposed on entirely peaceful environmental protesters last month. Labour must repeal the Tory laws that treat peaceful protest more severely than violent disorder and assault.

When governments need a privately owned medium to get its message across, it is the private owner that really holds power. Especially when the private owner effectively occupies a monopoly position theguardian.com/technology/art…

Labour promoting racist, anti-immigration rhetoric on the same day that it blamed welfare recipients for the deficit and paved the way for austerity. Unsurprising, but dangerous and disappointing theguardian.com/politics/live/…

Reminds me of Delhi where rickshaw drivers and others who service the needs of the middle classes are forced to live in slums. The present model of British capitalism is failing. It isn't inevitable. It was designed. And it can be reformed. theguardian.com/business/artic…

There is literally no need at all for Labour to deliver a painful budget in October. There is a massive capacity to increase taxes on wealth. If Labour wanted to borrow they could. And there are people who want good work.

Thank you Philip Proudfoot for saying this, I'm no economist but the idea that households live 'within their means' is not true! Let's not forget student debt, now turned into an instrument for a better (paying) job as justification for debt. Without debt everything stops.

Is the strategy get a party more right wing than the Republicans to divide their vote and then win on 33.7% of the vote on a 52% turnout? Not sure this is going to work in the US!

Richard Murphy (@richardjmurphy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

There is no one who thinks this will make a difference. Nationalisation is the only answer. Privatisation has failed. It’s time @uklabour stopped pretending neoliberal ideas work when they very obviously do not.
