As seen at BASL 2018 in York with Dr Loes Alferink. Coffee is good for the liver. Just resist the temptation for too much cake! That's probably less good.

Great meeting at the Royal Liverpool hospital with Guts UK on Monday 5th November. Research in liver and gastroenterology much needed. Very exciting prospects ahead.

HCC and cholangiocarcinoma are two overlooked malignancies. Ways to detect tumours at an earlier stage when disease is curable much needed.

Completely agree. I remember being told as a student "listen to your patient, they are telling you the diagnosis." Now I seem to spend time either waiting for the computer systems to log-on or ordering investigations. I am in favour of patients having access to results/notes.

Drs Foxton and O'Beirne look like they're having good time. Great memories of Kings college Liver unit when we were all research fellows together. Tough times but good times. Wish I was there.

Agree with the above. Early access to diagnostic as well as interventional radiology and also having a steady nerve, might be added to this already complete list.

I don't think it's just radiologists to whom this applies but all doctors and going back to first principles we might paraphrase that each action we do should not "harm" the patient. How often in modern medicine do we attempt to do the wrong thing for the right reasons?

#RemembranceDay2018Moving ceremonies in Lymm, Cheshire today. It's a small village and I couldn't believe how many names were read out of those who'd died in WWI. A whole generation lost. Since then what have we learnt?

Really important message. We have a strange relationship with alcohol, but it has a huge potential to damage the lives of heavy drinkers and those around them. Lets get the message out!

Very moving day. A massive loss on so many levels. I will miss the big fella' more than I can say. Conferences will never be the same again.

Well done Michelle, but not just to you but everyone on wards 5x and 5y who deliver such excellent care. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication. The cakes are in the post - hopefully won't go off!
