Had a great time at the tripartite surgery meeting in Philadelphia debating about axillary node clipping. I think I may have lost the debate but won great new colleagues. Thank you to the organizers for the invitation to participate.

Had the pleasure of presenting the SOUND trial at #asbrs2024 . One takeaway is <2% of patients with a positive sentinel node and negative axillary ultrasound had significant disease on ALND. We may not need ALND to guide adjuvant therapy in these cases.

Our research fellow presented early findings at today's DF/HCC research symposium, showing interesting lipidomic findings in breast cancer lymph node metastasis. More to come as we explore the role of the microenvironment in this process.

Interesting findings from the SOUND trial. Patients with small breast cancers with a negative ultrasound had omission of axillary surgery. What are your thoughts? Is this ready for prime time?

Sharing reflections on our Axillary Surgery Referral Program at BIDMC Department of Surgery. We've been pleased to be able to offer lymphatic reconstruction to so many patients and reduce their lymphedema risk.

Not only does a lower extremity vein graft improve the success rate of ILR, but it also spares having to use the thoracodorsal vein, which preserves the latissimus flap for future use if needed.
