“Why is bipolar suicide so difficult to reduce? Why is so little targeted and effective research being done to reduce risks and increase survival?” Dr Tania Gergel (Tania Gergel) calls for further research into suicide and bipolar in a recent piece published in The Lancet

Excellent new review of studies on lived experience of detention. 1 clear theme is ppl often not involved in decisions around care - more reasons why it's so important that MH #advancechoicedocuments become an established & valued part of clinical pathway advancechoice.org

7 yrs ago I was floridly psychotic. I thought there was a tapeworm in my brain, my food was being poisoned, newsreaders were speaking to me & cameras were following my every move. Today I am well and delusion free thanks to medication & therapy. Things do get better 🙏

V important study from JAMA Psychiatry highlighting prevalence of mental illness amongst people experiencing homelessness. There needs to be so much more support in place to tackle socio-economic marginalisation of people living with long-term #mentalhealth conditions

Another shocking piece about the scale and ease of accessing #euthanasia in Canada. People being offered an ‘easy death’ rather than adequate care

Today you’ll hear a lot about assisted suicide in the news But you won’t hear a lot about the considerable secular opposition to assisted suicide My BBC One documentary Better Off Dead? explains why many of us say NO to assisted suicide Not Dead Yet UK bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…

Stigma. Some people said that my husband was good to stay with me after I was mentally ill. He is very good, but I think there might have been different comments, or expectations, if I’d had a ‘physical’ illness. For me, it puts guilt before gratitude, & hurts.
