I am absolutely honored that Center for Mental Health and Addiction Policy has received this funding from JHU American Health. It has been a whirlwind first year as CMAP director and I’m so proud of all we have accomplished and the faith that has been placed in the team. None of this would be possible without the

This article hit very close to my heart. I have felt the gulf between the top 10 & rest of econ widen throughout my career & see no end in sight. I am also acutely aware of rising publication fees, shrinking dept. budgets, and rising data costs (e.g. recent CMS data changes). 1/2

This observation would also match earnings calls for Medicaid Managed Care firms which say average spending is going up. Hot take: redetermination might be *good* because we stop cutting checks to firms for enrollees getting coverage elsewhere.

New in Health Affairs: Christopher Behrer, Velda Wang, Jessica Banthin, Kate Bundorf & I find post-unwinding Medicaid redeterminations led to minimal changes in overall uninsurance as many offset Medicaid loss with employer-sponsored or private insurance.Indiana University Research News at IU

Excited to share my paper on unemployment and suicide with bernice pescosolido. Using big administrative data on suicide, we show that unemployed people are more likely to die by suicide, but their suicide risk is lower when and where more people are unemployed. doi.org/10.1177/000312…

Leaving WHO may, quietly, be the worst thing Pres Trump has done. This will cost millions of lives. WHO was overwhelmed by COVID because its whole budget is far below Sloan-Kettering cancer center's. WHO needs a budget at least 100x as large. Rather than bolster this vital
