‘Boom’ in Private health care is just 268,000 treatments per year compared with over 12,000,000 in the NHS
Private Care won’t replace NHS but is enjoying a ‘boom’ feeding on concerns, lack of Govt support & doing 15% of NHS work for a starved NHS.

Today, GMC chair Carrie MacEwen said Sarah Benn was not suspended “for protesting about climate change… that was irrelevant… but because she broke the law.”

Adding that GMC “don’t ask what the motivation is”, just whether the doctor has broken the law.

So wrong!

When I need to call out a plumber I’m grateful to pay £40/h because I don’t have the first clue how to fix my boiler, or the skills to fix a burst pipe

Doctors are asking for half of that, to fix your kids

In life we get the health services we pay for

Perhaps I was too soon in thanking Chris for highlighting the huge challenges in GP - seems he missed a memo

Just when I thought someone at NHS England was supporting GPs

Thanks Jacqui Smith but equally GPs are under huge pressure with 20% cut in funding £/patient since 2016

NHS work done by Private Sector

On the face of it a ‘good idea’ but wait….

The money spent is not then invested in the NHS, the private sector do this at a profit & long term capacity is lost form NHS making NHS a more reliant

The Conservatives are blaming their NHS failures on Doctors strikes (which they have had 18m to resolve)

Yet despite the narrative the weekly cancellations are double what they were 10yrs ago & remain higher than any week of strikes

12 million cancellations not due to strikes

Behind all the issues of NHS leadership making poor decisions is influence.

It isn’t necessarily ‘bad’ but it is likely to lead to worse outcomes for patients & the population in general

I personally believe in a Tax funded healthcare system which is free at the point of need

Despite the fall in the GP workforce over the five-year period, appts with GPs were up by more than 800,000 this April compared with 2019

20% cut in funding & fewer GPs is unsustainable

amanda doyle NHS England GPs need more than telephone systems

Can’t see a GP blame NHSE

Chris Hopson Thanks for being the only NHS England board member that acknowledges the hard work down by GP practices

I have serious concerns about the fact that income for GP practices has fallen 20% £/patient since 2016

Many of the appts are with ARRS staff & fewer GPs are being stretch

GP Practices receive just 5.4% of the NHS budget down from 9%
If you can’t see a GP there is a significant reason, NHS England & Govt have ignored the needs of GP practices, in part due to their success
But Family Drs (GPs we call them) are leaving, practices closing, unemployed

Unless The Labour Party Wes Streeting is willing to reverse the funding deficit created by the Tories & NHS England there will not be a Family Doctor in the future

20% has been cut from GP practices in just 8yrs
digital.nhs.uk/data-and-infor…
Now fewer GPs per patient - 1/2300 (was 1/1800)
