The Science and Technology Facilities Council funded ISOLDE facility at CERN Solenoidal Spectrometer features in the 70 years of CERN exhibit in Geneva Airport. I’m a proud spokesperson. #nuclear #Physics #cern
Excited and privileged to represent UoM Physics & Astronomy in this work Berkeley Lab. Such a rich history in element discovery and hopefully the hard work by the current team there pays off.
And so it begins 😁😁😁 here at Durham University for the 22nd STFC Nuclear Physics Summer School! We kick off with a great lecture from Paddy Regan on nuclear metrology ⚛️ Science and Technology Facilities Council Dr David K. Sharp
Enjoying the lectures at .Science and Technology Facilities Council summer school in nucl phys. Great lectures from top experts & old friends. Sean Freeman, Iain Moore & Magda Zelinska. Top organising by .Dr David K. Sharp & Rachel Montgomery. 35 years since i attended the same school as a student #npss24
Change of topics at the Science and Technology Facilities Council Nuclear Physics Summer School. Magda Zielińska has been telling us about collective structures in nuclei, Gianluca Colò has given an overview of nuclear models and Ann-Cecilie Larsen💙💛 is covering nuclear physics ingredients for nucleosynthesis. #npss24
Last Q&A panel of the first week of the Science and Technology Facilities Council nuclear physics summer school with Gianluca Colò, Ann-Cecilie Larsen💙💛 and Magda Zielińska goes back to pen and paper ✍🏻 :). Thanks to them for the great lectures this week and the students for their really fantastic questions!!
Participants in the Science and Technology Facilities Council nuclear physics summer school this week. Great first week. Awesome lectures and fantastic student talks. #npss24
A change from lectures at the Science and Technology Facilities Council Nuclear Physics Summer School. Students have been exploring their project management whilst building a portable LaBr detector. The fave detector of one Paddy Regan
Today at the Science and Technology Facilities Council Nuclear Physics Summer School, the Binding Blocks team from University of York are leading a session on science communication. Students are being challenged to communicate their research using the ten-hundred most common words in the English language.
Past few days we have had fascinating lectures from Holly Szumilla-Vance from Jefferson Lab on experimental hadron physics and Dr Chantal Shand from UKAEA on fusion and neutron spectroscopy at the Science and Technology Facilities Council 22nd nuclear physics summer school!
Snapshot of the careers fair at the Science and Technology Facilities Council Nuclear Physics Summer School #npss24
Yesterday we welcomed Nuclear Physics PhDs from a variety of industries to the Science and Technology Facilities Council Nuclear Physics Summer School to talk to the students about non-academic career pathways. #npss24
Our final lectures at the Science and Technology Facilities Council Nuclear Physics Summer School. Charlotte Van Hulse presenting on the future Electron Ion Collider, Stefanos Paschalis on principles of gamma-ray tracking and Jamie Norman on studies of the quark-gluon plasma and ALICE. #npss24
The Science and Technology Facilities Council Nuclear Physics Summer School came to an end yesterday. It’s been fantastic getting to know these students and seeing them engage so brilliantly with the lecturers each other at the school. I look forward to seeing them progress in their careers. #npss24
