Hey Windows. Your Cumulative Windows Updates are too frequent and are causing significant performance issues with my work laptop. Any wisdom you can offer on maximizing performance in tasks as a direct result of these frequent updates?

Best wishes to Team GB. The #Olympics are a time of national unity as we cheer on our boys and girls. But worth remembering once the games are over, 1/3 of Britain's medals in 2012 were as a result of the contributions of "#immigrants". Our strength is our #Diversity.

We are proud of this work. Thanks Chemistry for selecting this paper for the coveted front cover spot of the journal. Congratulations to all the authors. We have other exciting work to share in this domain. We are just getting started. Watch this space.

Thanks جامعة خليفة للعلوم والتكنولوجيا for highlighting this personal achievement. Thanks to Susan Reutzel-Edens for believing in me and to all my mentors. We have a lot of work to do. Let's bring the community together, create an excellent program and have fun! ku.ac.ae/khalifa-univer…

Hey TfL. How do you justify having a 21st century public transport system that has no air conditioning? It seems the cheapest way to get a free sauna in London is to take any bus when the outside temperature is over 31 °C.

One of the joys of being in London is the variety of cuisines available. I have had a lot of Somali food at restaurants but #Sabiib Restaurant in Acton is probably the most authentic I have tasted. Nutritious, tasty and balanced. Check them out. sabiibrestaurant.com

Only in London! Sunscreen, brolly, and sunglasses all in the bag. The only thing i am not quite ready for are locusts this afternoon.

A portrait of "Hope: The Chemist" at Royal Society of Chemistry in Burlington House. Notice the Mechanochemistry in the background. Our community of mechanochemists is represented well by this painting. Hard at work, often overlooked but changing chemistry for the better with little fanfare.

As an outsider observer, it seems somewhat arbitrary to name a #MOF after the institution it was discovered in. If the same approach was taken for every new crystalline material or chemical made, the literature would be even more of a mess than it already is. #Nomenclature

Color polymorphism arising from conformational changes is a challenging phenomenon to control. Here, we use CSP coupled with free energy calculations to explain the origins of these color polymorphs. Thanks Zeinab Saeed, Dr. Tamador Alkhidir and Dr. Praveen Managutti.

AI tools that are integrated with popular consumer packages (e.g. Outlook) without my opt-in are not improving my productivity if I am constantly fighting with the AI (e.g CoPilot) as to whether it should write my emails for me. Sometimes, the old ways are better. Microsoft #AI

Lots of energy and excitement for the new academic year, following our annual Green Chemistry & Materials Modelling Laboratory (GCMM, smohamed.org) team-building day. Thanks to all our existing and new lab members. I am so proud of our diverse and hard-working team.

Any suggestions on a good free GUI for visualizing the trajectories of a VASP MD Simulation? Ideally one that can be executed on the cluster rather than copying files back to the local computer. #VASP #RealTimeChem #AcademicChatter #ProfsDoingMDonWeekends!

I predict the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2024 will not be in "Chemistry" but will go to method development in Computational Physics. #NobelChatter.
