Hey Texas A&M University, why is this on campus now?

My position as Agronomy Data Scientist at Syngenta was among those recently eliminated and I am looking for my next step. I have a MSc in Soil Ecology, PhD in Sustainable Ag and Crop Production & Physiology, 5 years in cropping systems modeling, 5 years in commercial agronomy.

I am very confused right now. How can we pass state laws to doubly support all 1A free speech on our college campuses, and less than a year later call in police to stop free speech of students. Do we believe in free speech for our students and campuses or not? What am I missing?

Masses of idealistic students with nothing to gain and much to lose are a lot more likely to sway my thinking and opinions on an issue than established politicians, power-brokers or advertisers who benefit materially from their positions. In a post-truth society especially.

I don't care what students are protesting, could be bombs or bake sales, there is no reason to proactively engage police for a peaceful university student protest (as reported, I wasn't there to know). Will end up on the wrong side of history every time. statesman.com/story/news/loc…

Lab lunch to say goodbye to Dr. Alper Adak. He has amazingly mentored all of our current grad students to be emerging leaders in their fields. End of an era, we will all miss him a lot! The entire department and much of the phenomics community will miss him too 🥺! Big impact!
