The trauma, costs, & extra (unseen) labour of Schengen visa applications for Global South scholars located in the UK. My goodness. Not worth it, imo, I will be curtailing my travel going forward & sticking to places (eg Ireland) that don’t require visas. 😬

I won’t be able to present at #ISA2024 because my US visa appt is in 2026. How many academics from the global south are forced to wait, prevented from accessing these spaces? Immobility helps define those who speak their voices in academia and those whose voices are spoken for.
