Ten years ago, New Horizons came closer to the surface of Pluto than any spacecraft in history, flying less than 8,000 miles (13,000 km) above the surface. This enhanced-color image was taken when New Horizons was about 280,000 miles (450,000 km) away.

So far in 2025, more flood warnings have been issued by National Weather Service than any year on record (since 1986). Monday was no exception, with 96 flood warnings across the country, the most of any July calendar day. Invest 93L threatens to continue the trend this week. michaelrlowry.substack.com/p/tropical-dis…

This is absolutely absurd. Doha, Qatar just recorded a heat index of 133°F (56°C) at 1 am local time. Even the nights do not provide reprieve from the deadly heat and humidity on the Persian Gulf. This comes just hours after Dubai recorded a 140°F (60°C) heat index.
