"Educators must not allow the phrase 'critical race theory' to be used to blacklist scholars...the same way the word 'communist' was used in the McCarthy era. Black history is our collective history as Americans. It must be told—in full." Eugene Robinson washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/…

#BlackHistoryMonth wouldn’t be complete without celebrating Vice President JD Vance Kamala Harris, who has been a trailblazer for representation of Black women at the highest levels of our nation’s government. I’m honored to know her and have her partnership on issues that matter to Californians.

Next year, Mr. Blackman will teach the first-ever AP African American Studies course at Science Park High School in Newark. New Jersey, unlike other states, will never erase Black History. Students who envision themselves in our history see themselves in our future. #BlackHistoryMonth

Being Black and poor in America should not be crimes punishable by vigilante death. Jordan Neely did not just deserve to live. He deserved to live a better life than what our society decided to afford him. We are devastated by his loss. African American Policy Forum's full statement:

Over a 20-year span, NUCATS Institute director of diversity and inclusion Clyde Yancy, MD, MSc and collaborators found Black Americans experienced more than 1.6 million excess deaths and more than 80 million excess years of life lost compared to white Americans — bit.ly/42X1T4F

Thank you, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, for your leadership on Black Men & Boys. With your support, a federal commission now tackles systemic racism & the brutal killings of Black men, like George Floyd's. While not every city has a commission like COMMISSION ON THE SOCIAL STATUS OF BLACK MEN+BOYS, your influence extends nationwide.

I think it’s very instructive to look at neighborhoods which underwent gentrification 20+ yrs ago and see what residents were saying back then. Here are residents of Park Slope, Bklyn in the 1980s. Everything they’re saying is true. Vid credit: SOLAECLIPSE™️
