We celebrated John's life today. We heard about his long journey and his great achievements. We heard of all the aspects of his life, the family, man, the dentist, the villager, the advocate. One thing is sure, he touched so many lives. Thank you John! Vasculitis - In memory of John Mills MBE 💙💚

Better than the cover of the Rolling Stone: PMR is in NEJM SAPHYR phase 3 sarilumab after 52w leads to: - more sustained remission (28% vs 10%) - less steroid (777mg vs 2044mg) - well tolerated the first ever U.S. FDA approved medicine for PMR Dr. John Cush nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

Not just “a disease of the elderly”: when polymyalgia rheumatica strikes young, it hits hard. Clinicians: what are the implications for our services for pts with PMR - have we over-optimised for retired pts? what about pts <65yrs? what do they need from us?

Great commentary from Milena Bond Christian Dejaco in @ARD_BMJ on subclinical GCA & PMR 👏 Amongst our excitement, lots of important questions asked that need answering. Without letting unblinded imaging bias outcomes, what does subclinical GCA actually mean for PMR prognosis?

I have to say: upadacitinib looks very decent for GCA. Not a panacea, but it definitely does something & good safety during trial. Would love to eventually see: - H2H comparative effect vs toci, secukinumab - structural outcomes - long-term safety #EULAR2024 PBA0001 Dr. John Cush

PMR patients get too much steroid. Data across 27 million people in England, n=39,438 with PMR. The blue are getting more pred than guidelines. Like everything in rheum: we need to be giving less pred, not more. Lumping PMR in with GCA won’t help. #EULAR2024 POS0411 Dr. John Cush
