My junior colleague felt the need to explain why she’s leaving 15 mins early! She was over an hour late yesterday. As long as patients are safe/handed over please exert this autonomy when you can. It breeds a sense of control, well-being & good will for future unavoidable lates!

My husband (non NHS) can take ‘all the time you need’ to take ME to a medical appointment, yet I’m the one bending my **** backwards to get my own cover … I’m not going to add anything more as it won’t be pretty

Just a rant but being a patient is so hard! Today I’ve been expected to coordinate 2 departments to arrange appts for me on the same day. The onus is on me, on hold for over 3 hours today, net result nothing. Working for the NHS sucks sometimes but this is far more frustrating.

Dr Hannah Lunch 🇮🇪🦀🇵🇸 It’s like this, Someone walks into your house, I lost something in my house, What did you lose, Don’t know, When did you lose it, Don’t know, Describe what you lost, Don’t know, & you figure out what they lost, find it for them, & give it back to them, That’s medicine.

Every single time I do any extra hours Or a locum payroll cocks up the pay. Every. Single. Time The effort of sorting it out is no longer worth it apart from maybe helping out a colleague. Could be such a simple fix.

I have 2 appointments arranged by the same medical team, 40 minutes apart in different hospitals in London 30 minutes apart by public transport. When I queried this (which took 87 mins on hold) I was told its acceptable. This is NOT. Why do we do this to patients?

Ah the patriarchy in the GOV.UK passport is alive & well. Really they are saying could you please be Mrs G, also known as Doctor X & please don’t you dare ask again to be Doctor H, also known as Mrs G. It might hurt my husband’s feelings?

Feeling excited for the year ahead, joining the cohort 16 of #SQSF. Thinking this justifies some snazzy stationary & maybe a new travel bag …. 🤔 #anyexcuse

In an unexpected failure of my orthostatic mechanisms today, on kneeling to talk TEPs with an elderly patient, I stood up & promptly fell face first into her. I covered this up nicely by explaining it’s entirely standard practice to kiss all patients at the end of the ward round.

Love this discussion! I adored being med reg. Nights & all. Caveat with acknowledging times are harder but still love the TAKE (gotta block out a lot of other nonsense which is never the patients doing) but the bread and butter still 🥰
