Saying that #covid19 vaccines don’t work because we have breakthrough infections is like saying seatbelts don’t work because there are still people injured in car accidents. Seatbelts protect you a lot, but if there are reckless drivers all around, you could still be in danger.

Public health is about science--and about values. As a society, we must decide if we wish to put the desires of those who choose to remain unvaccinated above the health and well-being of the vaccinated (and those who cannot yet be vaccinated, including young children).

The vaccinated are currently paying a price for the unvaccinated. #covid19 is surging again, with spillover to the vaccinated. Masks are coming back, because the honor system isn’t working. And our unvaccinated children & immunocompromised are at high risk from the Delta variant.
