Looking forward to host Evangelos Giampazolias Barts Cancer Institute (Queen Mary) next week to hear more about this amazing work !
So happy to share this important work from the brilliant Evangelos Giampazolias out now in Science Magazine 🤩 a real fruit of labour + love showing a new role for vitamin D ☀️ regulating host-microbiota interactions in cancer immunity. Check out our tweetorial! 👇Caetano Reis e Sousa The Crick
Vitamin D appears to promote the immune response to cancer and the success of immunotherapy; now a mechanism is identified involving the gut microbiome interactions

My latest story for National Geographic, about a mouse study published in Science Magazine that really surprised Evangelos Giampazolias and colleagues working at Caetano Reis e Sousa. nationalgeographic.com/premium/articl…
Congrats Evangelos Giampazolias Caetano Reis e Sousa on a seminal work Science Magazine exploring how vitamin D controls gut #microbiome to foster anti- #cancer #immunity .
👏👏👏👏
Very proud of my friend Evangelos Giampazolias Look at his work Science Magazine showing how vitamin D promotes cancer immunity via regulation of the gut microbiome. Super cool 😎
Scientists at the Crick, National Cancer Institute and Aalborg Universitet found that vitamin D encourages the growth of a type of gut bacteria in mice that improves cancer immunity.
The Cancer Research UK -funded work includes Crick researchers Caetano Reis e Sousa and (formerly) Evangelos Giampazolias
