At the GSA Spaceport Summit, Maj Gen (Ret) Roosevelt "Ted" Mercer, CEO & Executive Director of Virginia Spaceport Authority, made a very strong case for why spaceports should be considered "Critical Infrastructure."

It's hard to believe that it has been 2 years since the "Roaring Twenties" crew had a chance to fly on a rocket to the edge of space. What a ride!

The Global Spaceport Alliance was on Capitol Hill last week to talk about the role that spaceports can play in growing the space economy. We also shared our ideas about how Congress could really make a difference in that process.

At the annual awards dinner for the Aerospace States Association in New Orleans, we got to hear from Christina Korp and Nicole Stott about how the aerospace community can do a better job of communicating and engaging with the general public.

This is a very important development! The goal is to learn how we can enable all those who would like to go to space to have that opportunity.

Where can you talk about space during an airshow? In the Space Zone Theatre, of course! We had a great discussion today about spaceports and point-to-point transportation at Farnborough.

HRP-C applauds SpaceX and Polaris Dawn Crew for their courage and leadership in advancing civilian spaceflight through this historic spacewalk. HRP-C appreciates the detailed biomedical experiments they are conducting on a highly complex mission. Kudos on this extraordinary feat!

At the recent GSA Spaceport Summit in Orlando, we were excited to announce that 18 members of the Global Spaceport Alliance have agreed to become signatories of the Washington Compact on Norms of Behavior for Commercial Space Operations.

One of the most interesting sessions at this year's Space Mobility Conference was titled "Expanding Launch Capacity for Assured Access to Space." We had an outstanding panel, including Jim Bridenstine, Mark Bontrager, Bradley Smith, and Lars Hoffman.

I had a chance to meet up with Stefan Powell, CEO of Dawn Aerospace, at the Space Symposium. They are making remarkable progress in developing and flight testing the Mk-II Aurora spaceplane in New Zealand.

It was great to see Jim Armor and Mary Lynne Dittmar named as Fellows of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)!

We had a great discussion about spaceports and the future space economy at an international forum held during EXPO 2025 Osaka. Joining me on the panel were Patrizio Summa, Giovanni Di Antonio, Yoshinori Odagiri, Shigeru Shimose, and Scott McLaughlin (virtually).

The Global Spaceport Alliance Alliance just held the second annual International Spaceport Forum in Sydney, Australia, and it was a tremendous success! About 100 people attended from 14 different counties. The venue, speakers, panels, and topics were all excellent.

IAC is always a great opportunity to get together with other folks in the space community.
