Rare Blue crayfish In a creek.

Aptly named red Redclaw crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) are native to f/w habitats in the Nth Territory & Nth Queensland - but not to Western Australia. I found this one in the Fortescue River catchment, Pilbara, WA - a region where they are now widespread & considered a pest.

We found a Lamington Crayfish! (Eumastacus sulcatus). Here it is in an impressive defensive stance. They mostly venture out at night to forage/mate, but we were lucky to spot this fella on our hike in the World Heritage Lamington Nat’l Park. They are Vulnerable (restricted range)
