Blimmin heck. This paper has *already* been rejected by another journal! That's some frisky rejecting right there. It's a good paper, too. But then again it's always the ones I like best that get rejected the most.

People who get lots of Twitter notifications. Is there a point at which it stops telling you the exact number of notifications you have and switches to '100+' or whatever?

Submitted a paper to a very high-ranking journal and just got an out-of-scope desk rejection, sweetened by a very nice personal message from the editor. Onwards!

A relative of my husband rang, and I said that I was having a lazy afternoon reading in bed. Instead of being like a normal person and saying 'Oh that sounds nice,' she said 'Well that really is lazy, I've spent the whole day cleaning my kitchen from top to bottom.'

Do I know anybody who is an expert in word usage?
I've got a lot of young people using the word 'smart' to mean 'clever' in some data, more than I would expect.
Is this a) a north of England thing; b) a young person thing; or c) is it just more commonly used than I'm aware of?
