End of year is when I start reminding my #newcomers about News in Levels. I want to make sure they know what they can be doing every day without me to continue their language acquisition. Here is a blog post I wrote about that.

Margaret A. Ballantyne 🟧🌻📚🏳️🌈 reminded me of a great point this morning.
If you are a newcomer teacher, the end of the year can be so joyous.
If you stop and reflect on how far these kids have come… you're likely to have a room full of kids who have made significant progress. 👏👏👏
I used to spend a little time after Spring break reminding students how far they had come —based on the goals or objectives. “Can you do x now, which you couldn’t have in the beginning of the year?” For example. Then I would ask what they wanted more practice on. #pd4uandme
We set reading goals as a class so it’s fun to see how many books we have read at the end of the year and if we met our goals! #pd4uandme
Kimberly Isham For our class goal, I only do it with English class, we write them on chart paper and set goals together each quarter.
You could easily have them do it on a piece of paper. We call it “Our Reading Lives”. I think it came from a PD book. (Reading Strategies?) #pd4uandme
Sorry I missed the #pd4uandMe chat this morning, but I’ve enjoyed reading all of the ideas to finish the school year strong. My classes will end the year with a personal narrative unit.
