Yesterday, I signed an executive order declaring Hawai‘i a trauma-informed state. Becoming a trauma-informed state will help alleviate some of the impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma, and build resilience in our families, communities, and state workforce.

A new study has quantified the annual economic burden of ACE-Associated Health Conditions at a staggering $14 trillion.

Clinicians use evidence-based strategies to mitigate toxic stress from ACEs in patients, as that toxic stress is amenable to treatment.
