No political perspective here; this is just a really good point, medically speaking. Most Paramedics run multiple calls a week for elderly patients who either can't pick themselves up, or whose lives essentially end after a simple fall.

Awful. Awful way to die. The anxiety they must have had getting on to it in the first place. The noises the vessel inevitably made before it tore apart. The families not knowing what happened, and may never truly know. Those poor migrants. They only wanted a better life.

Even if you didn't know anything about the complexity of EMS, why would you think it wouldn't be expensive? Trucks are notoriously expensive. Payroll is notoriously expensive. Fuel is notoriously expensive. Headlines like this pop up in KY every few years too, like....duh.

I got an NG tube 20 years ago and still vividly remember the pain. Easily in the top 5 worse experiences of my life. If I ever need one again, I'm demanding Versed or even dissociative dose ketamine.

I appreciate the rhetorical technique, but both are bad takes. Farming is expensive and good for the entire country, so we should all subsidize it. Higher education is also expensive and also good for the entire country, so we should all subsidize that too.

My Uncle Arnie (Arnold Sachs) is the photographer who took this picture. A random photo that had no significance until it did. I hardly delete any photos.

When I worked in DC 12 years ago, you couldn't turn around on the Mall without seeing three cops in every direction. USPP, USSS, MPD, FPS, Metro Transit, Smithsonian cops, federal guard forces and special police outside every building , on and on... Where are they these days?

Seems like we have 2 groups of confident, dumb people dominating the comvo in America: 1st group makes brain-dead claims like "nobody is marginalized." 2nd group thinks that spelling "folks" as "folx" somehow helps achieve equity. 2 kinds of clowns, same circus.

Quick tutorial in critical thinking: 1. I read this tweet & thought, "that's odd...never heard of ACP and this seems contrary to what I've previously heard on this topic." 2. Look up the group to learn more about them. 3. Learn that they're listed as a hate group by ADL.

To address the Hospital #WallTimeDelay for Brevard County Fire Rescue @BCFREMS, we implemented a method for our EMTs and Paramedics to report the delay in real time. Once they submit the delay, a text message is sent to my admin staff and the hospital executives (not the ED staff). What Have We Learned?

Only the most recent time that @gallsconnect has sent me an unhemmed pair of pants. The other pants in the same order were hemmed, as ordered. Over the many years that my employers have outfitted me from Galls, this has happened many many times.

A few months ago, the National EMS Advisory Council (NEMSAC) adopted a proposal calling for the establishment of Paramedic Practitioners. Though a public document, finding it online is difficult. Here it is in full: drive.google.com/file/d/10GgfCd…
