Brutal news for the Bulls. Smith has been great this season, but has battled the same calf injury for much of the year. Ivey played four games with Chicago & is a restricted free agent this summer. The bright side: it only cost Huerter (expiring) and Saric (free) to get Ivey.

Jaden Ivey was not punished for using his free speech, nor for openly being a Christian. I wrote about the complex situation unfolding with the Chicago #Bulls, the NBA’s relationship with religion and what history tells us about Ivey getting another shot: roundtable.io/shortUrl/8e36n…

Back at the Advocate Center for the Bulls’ shootaround ahead of the team’s game against the Pacers tonight. Mac McClung, Yuki Kawamura and Lachlan Olbrich all here.

#Bulls guard Tre Jones said that Billy Donovan initially addressed the Jaden Ivey situation when the release happened, but that the case was "above" them, so the team is now just focusing on what they can control, particularly preparing for the season's remaining games.

#Bulls guard Tre Jones on Jaden Ivey, from today's shootaround: "He wasn't around the group a whole lot, just with the injuries that he was dealing with. We didn't really get to get close with him, off the court or on the court, just because he wasn't around that much."

I wrote about mental health in sports, the NBA’s role in addressing mental health crises and how Jaden Ivey’s recent admission that he attempted suicide confirms that this situation is far more complicated than just being about religious beliefs: roundtable.io/shortUrl/RTxLZ…

Bulls President Michael Reinsdorf: “I want to be very clear. We want Billy [Donovan] to continue to be the head coach of the Chicago Bulls.”

One day after the Bulls fired Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley, I spoke to Patrick Williams about how he and his teammates processed the move and his relationship with those two as their first Bulls draft pick: roundtable.io/sports/nba/bul…

Billy Donovan says it’s “moving toward” Josh Giddey being done for the season, but doesn’t commit to anything. Matas Buzelis is still dealing with the illness that kept him from this D.C. road trip, but could play tomorrow, depending on how he feels.

I talked to #Bulls guard Rob Dillingham about his development in Chicago and where the 21-year-old guard sees his game going next. Read what the former Wolves first-rounder and head coach Billy Donovan said here: roundtable.io/sports/nba/bul…

Leonard Miller has a career-high 24 points tonight on 11-of-14 shooting. The 22 y/o is averaging 11.3 points per game on 55/35/77 splits since being traded to the #Bulls at the deadline. Was averaging 2.3 ppg in Minnesota over the first half of the season.

The Bulls (31-49) beat the Wizards (17-63) for the second time in three days, moving into a tie with the Bucks for the ninth-best lottery odds. My story from Washington D.C. on tonight's game, and a big outing from Leonard Miller: roundtable.io/sports/nba/bul…
