‘Clouds are vehicles of the imagination’ says Founder of Cloud Appreciation Society @gavinpretorpinney Everyone loves a cumulus, light-hearted and the best for shape-finding. We get lots of elephants in the sky. It’s to do with the science - the thermal remnants become the trunk.

Enjoyed my first visit to Dorchester Literary Festival to be in conversation with Robin Niblett this afternoon at a sold out event. A fascinating chat on his book ‘The New Cold War’. Also had chance to have a look around @DorsetMuseum where the event was being held.

Major Scotty Mills grew up on the back street of Peckham and nearly joined his local gang. Then it rained. He ducked into the Royal Marines office. He stands here today their highest ranking black officer. An inspiration to all. #NeverGiveIn

The 5000yr old figurine adorning Victoria Hislop ‘s novel imbues feminine tranquility & strength. Victoria felt reassured by this connection with women of the past. Overlooked until Picasso recognised their aesthetic; the statues’ rocketing value became a narrative driver.

Tom Heap, leading environmental ideas man, takes on the planet's biggest crises; food supply, climate and biodiversity. The key to solving them? The land and how we farm it. Going ‘back to biology’ will increase yields, gain biodiversity and sequester carbon. Tom Heap

'No. I don't think he enjoys politics.' Tom Baldwin tells us that getting our very complicated and private Prime Minister to open up was tough. His book is ‘authoritative' but not 'authorised'. They haven't fallen out, 'but there's definitely things in there he doesn't like’
