Kildare have played the most amount of games over the past two years without scoring a goal. 77 per cent of their games now after today’s defeat to Louth RTÉ GAA

That’s now 17 of Kildare’s last 22 league & c’ship games over the past two seasons where they haven’t scored a goal. Continuing their avg of 0-13 per game, which is lower than everyone other than NY, London and Waterford. Not enough to beat D1 and D2 teams

Kildare’s full-forward line touched the ball inside the opp 21m line just 5 times combined against Wicklow. With just one long ball kicked into 3 huge men. No surprise then over the past 2yrs they’ve scored a goal in less than a quarter of their games

Over the past 2 seasons Kildare’s scoring avg is lower than all but NY, London & Waterford. The number of matches they've played without scoring a goal in that period is the highest in the country. Here’s why they need to reinvent their attacking plan👇

As Eamon Donoghue pointed out in this piece, Nickie Quaid has been key for Limerick this year and every year (and every game) under John Kiely

Nickie Quaid has saved more than half of the 15 shots fired towards his goal during the league (with one of those into an empty net after he saved the initial attempt), but he’s also faced more shots than in any other period under John Kiely. An area Limerick need to tidy up on…

Nickie Quaid’s save rate from the league was 53%. His avg goal-per-game concession under JK is less than 1 but for this league alone it was almost 2. Limerick lost 56% of his long puck-outs conceding 2-7 directly off them. Read this week’s RTÉ GAA column👇

'Quaid's average goal-per-game concession under Kiely (league and championship) is less than one – 66 in 79. During his games in the 2024 league it was almost two goals per game'

Nickie Quaid is the only player to have featured in every min of c’ship under John Kiely. His first in charge of Limerick was against Clare when he gave 7 debuts (13 All Stars, a PoTY and YPoTY between them) & 12 of the players are still involved. Read👇

Con O’Callaghan scored 3-34 in total over the league, as he and Dublin had their top scoring campaign ever. Con scored 2-18 from play/marks, with 2-12 or 75% of that being converted from within the opposition 21-metre line - The Con Danger Zone. Read👇

Dublin's form improved considerably after the opening two rounds of the league, and a huge reason for this has been their use of Con O'Callaghan rte.ie/sport/football…

Con O’Callaghan’s highest scoring league ever, from play too. And Dublin’s highest scoring league ever. Some form to be carrying into their c’ship opener today!
From the first 2 games when he had just 15% of his touches inside the Con danger zone (the 21) this then rose to 45%…

Delighted to be returning with my GAA Statistics column, now for RTÉ GAA

Con O’Callaghan and Dublin come into today’s championship opener both off the back of their best ever scoring leagues. But given how poorly it started, what changed? Read the link👇

Fantastic to see Eamon Donoghue’s GAA statistics column make a long-awaited return, focusing this week on Con O’Callaghan - over on RTÉ Sport now.

This graphic of ‘The Con Danger Zone’ and his received possessions from Rd. 3-7 of the league is frightening
