Also not true ...according to World Health Organization (WHO) 2018 Global Status Report on Alcohol & Health, 59% of South Africans engage in heavy episodic drinking in past 30 days, & we are the 6th heaviest nation in terms of grams (or ml equivalent) of absolute alcohol consumed per drinker per day

Data from 10 hospitals in GT, EC, KZN and WC (from between 1 and 4 weeks following the 2nd ban on liquor sales and the institution of a 9 pm curfew) shows on average a >38% decrease in trauma presentations (9%, 15%, 23%, 32%, 34%, 36%, 41%, 50%+, 62% & 83%)
