Great to be at the MBL again, with mycology colleagues and a terrific group of students - my favorite place for nonstop science and stimulating conversations. Thanks directors for having me here! David Andes CramerLab

My lab enjoyed hosting Alex Caron from TCU this summer to study lipid transport in C. neoformans. Terrific job Alex, and great mentoring from @WUSTLdbbs students Keeley Choy and Ellie Gaylord! @WUSM_MolMicro #DBBSAmgen2022

Impactful words by Carolyn Bertozzi today on how diversity in her trainees enabled creativity, not playing by the rules, and ultimately the work that built the field of bioorthogonal chemistry. Diverse science leads to better science!

New initiative from my department - take a look and pass on to recent/imminent doctoral graduates who might be interested in an alternative to a traditional postdoc. And meanwhile happy holidays to everyone celebrating light in a cold winter! @WUSM_MolMicro

Picked up a local newsletter today and saw three new board members of a business organization described respectively as 'bubbly' (a lawyer), 'outgoing' (a realtor), and 'invaluable' (an entrepreneur). Guess which one was the man in the group! This gets tiring. Words matter.

Happy to share these beautiful studies about ergosterol transport in C. neoformans, done by Keeley Choy with help from Ellie Gaylord. Two talented and insightful Wash U DBBS graduate students – it’s a privilege to work with them! @WUSM_MolMicro @WUSTLdbbs biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Kudos to Daniel Agustinho, who spearheaded this project to identify natural genomic variants that influence cryptococcal virulence. Our strategy worked beautifully to discover a causal variant with a big influence on virulence–more to come! Michael Brent biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

Micro colleagues, be aware of the major changes in Cellular Microbiology (editors, content, indexing, review, etc) since it joined Hindawi. On the positive side, they refunded the publication fee when we belatedly realized how much the journal had changed and withdrew our work...

My honor to hood Keeley Choy, and a lovely day for the lab to turn out to cheer for her. Look forward to her thesis talk in a few weeks! Congratulations to all the graduating @WUSTLdbbs students! @WUSM_MolMicro

Colleagues in the midwest studying fungi and parasites - check out this terrific regional meeting. Lots of opportunities for trainees to present, great speakers, and registration/meals are free. Hard to beat this combo!
