That's the Royal Agricultural Show over for another year. The observation hive bees are back in their hive and the event stuff is packed away. The honey is sold out... probably due to the amazing team on the tasting table! Betsy Bee can now have a well earned rest...always a ⭐

We are very lucky on the Isle of Man to have such a vast range of terrific honey for people to try. Yesterday at the Royal Agricultural Show our honey was so popular we sold out!

BBKA Vice-chair Stephen Barnes visits the Ramsey and District training apiary on the Isle of Man

Today we had a visitor to the apiary....none other that BBKA Vice Chairman Stephen Barnes and his wife Sara. We had a great afternoon having a chat over a cuppa and showing off our lovely site.

Well done to R&DBA and to everyone else who helped out, the tent look fabulous... great job.👏

There's not much to do at this time of year at the apiary really, so we just checked the feeders and talked about cutting the grass. Beautiful weather, great company and delicious cake.... perfect.🐝

This afternoon at the apiary......we talked about the upcoming IOMBF Honey Show on the 3rd/4th November. Our Judge this year is Michael Young MBE from Hillsborough in Northern Ireland. Come on IOM Beekeepers it's almost time to show off your hard work! 🍯

This my friends is what Sunday's are all about..... glorious sunshine, fabulous company and a good cup of tea! The topic of conversation was mouse guards, do we or don't we use them? The group was split on this subject, and after much debate...the group was still split!

Defra update 3.11.23 So far in 2023 there have been 71 nests found in 55 locations. Kent Following active operations in Tenterden, this week the NBU were able to locate a nest which has been destroyed. The NBU is currently conducting enhanced monitoring throughout Kent
