There should be some kind of special award for a conference that runs for the first time, on such high quality, is so well-organized, brings so many new ideas on the table and does all of that while on a power outage! Amazing work people DistrictCon ❤️

This was a good talk for organizing information in this space. I especially liked the point that until Rust’s ownership model memory safety was largely synonymous with garbage collection. As well as the point about the memory barrier as it applies to GC

My heart is so full 🖤 Are our volunteers, partners, sponsors, organizers, and village leads the best people on the planet? Yes. Who else could keep a con going through complete city-block wide power outage? Love you all. ⚡️🚒🔋

What a fun event to MC! I enjoyed the mix of fun speakers, lulzy bugs, and some really tense moments... It's how a live hacking event should feel! Except I don't recommend other cons try to replicate the unique vibe that comes with a multi-day power outage 😅

A concept that I've been thinking about a lot lately: transforming complex problems into document ranking problems to make them easier to solve. LLMs can assist greatly here, as I demonstrated at DistrictCon this past weekend. noperator.dev/posts/document…

Thanks for having us DistrictCon! We had great fun chatting with the community, watching some great talks and taking part in the first JunkYard competition! Huge well done to the organisers for putting on a great con in tough conditions and smashing it!
