Some thoughts about month of playing with #scala and #Spark

1/4 When I decided to learn Spark, I spent long time deciding between Python (which I know) and Scala (which I never touched before).

2/4 Decision to use Scala was spot on! I learned a lot about programming in general from Scala, became better in other languages as well.

3/4 Python now feels somewhat awkward without type safety, pattern matching and easy-to-use collection operators (map, filter, folds).

4/4 Yet so many tools are still missing (e.g. sklearn and good plotting libs).
