“Defiance is our only remedy...” ‘The Poor Man’s Guardian’, a radical weekly, was first published #OnThisDay 1831. Sold for 1 penny, the paper defied the stamp duty of 4p per copy. Over 500 sellers of the paper, as well as its publisher, were imprisoned for distributing it.
