Day 3 of the latest dig at the barns. A possible clay floor and area of cobbling showing through, plus lots of heavy work! #scotlanddigs2024

And that's a wrap for our latest dig. We now think our long wall was potentially out of the use at the time of the 1788 map and not shown on it. The walls of the "barns" that are shown may survive only as spreads of rubble but we have some interesting features. #scotlanddigs2024

Whistle while you work? This bone whistle was found at Skara Brae in Orkney, which was a thriving village over 4,500 years ago 🎵 The site was home to farmers and fishers, as well as hunters who may have used the instrument to make music to attract prey: digitscotland.com/unearthing-sco…

The incredible archaeology being uncovered by volunteers, Stephen Driscoll and UofG Archaeology students, and Clyde Archaeology in our churchyard, supported by Society of Antiquaries of Scotland! In the foreground, the boulder foundations of the early medieval roadway that entered the graveyard's south-east corner.
