a popular piece of advice I’ve gotten so far in grad school has been to celebrate little successes! so I’m celebrating making it through the end of a long week, no contamination in our experiment, and being halfway through my nsf proposal draft🎉

Personal statements ask us to open up about our journey only to later use our experiences as weak points to justify our exclusion. When we share our confidence in ourselves it's painted as cockiness and pride. When we share our struggles we are blamed for them. How do we win?

Congrats to Mauck lab PhD grad number 20 - DR Grey Hallstrom (@SwampHagWitch) on their successful PhD defense today! Grey is the first Mauck lab CAMB Graduate Group grad, HHMI Gilliam Fellow (HHMI), cartilage bio expert, and will be surely missed as they soon move on to a postdoc.
