Glad to see this published! We looked at natural variation of immunogenic epitopes across 1,000s of bacteria. Experiments also revealed intrabacterial antagonism - a nonimmunogenic epitope blocks perception of immunogenic forms encoded in a single genome. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
