In a study of ~2.5M children, there was a small association between in utero Tylenol use and subsequent autism. But the association disappears entirely when you introduce sibling controls, implying it’s spurious.

Someone saying things this stupid or cynical should be no where near power. We rely on the generosity of bond investors to keep the British state afloat: £150B new borrowing + £200B debt roll over every year. Last govt to upset the bond markets collapsed within 7 weeks...

AI has only increased my workload in Radiology. Has made me more efficient per case (faster stroke ID and perfusion scan read times etc). But cused explosion of new referrals and added imaging follow up tests.

🚨 BAD news for Medical AI models. MASSIVE revelations from this Microsoft paper. 🤯 Current medical AI models may look good on standard medical benchmarks but those scores do not mean the models can handle real medical reasoning. The key point is that many models pass tests

That doubling (100% ⬆️) of genetic defect risk 'only' accounts for 1 generation of consanguinity. But in endogamous communities w/ multi-gen consanguinity the relative & absolute risks are much higher than stated eg Neural tube defects in Kashmiri pop are 4x (300%⬆️) background.

Fundamental problem is government failure in the healthcare market & scarcity There are insufficient NHS appointments w/ GPs for population yet simultaneously un/underemployed GPs Changing rationing mechanism from inconvenient telebooking to online waiting list won't improve it

Very underwhelming performance, though I wasn't expecting general purpose AI models to be well suited to integrating radiological diagnoses. Still 5+ years away from AI replacing radiologists it appears. cc Deena Mousa (in SF 10/16-10/20) Sam Bowman

I have some sympathy for the Hexarad. General Medical Council again not fit for purpose. This is exactly what a regulator should be doing. It is what we doctors *pay* them to do

💡In glioblastoma, restricted diffusion outside the enhancing tumor (IRD) often heralds future enhancement. 📰Prospective cohort n=52: IRD in 21%; 64% enhanced on follow-up at ~110 days; IRD linked to higher mortality risk (HR≈3.2). doi.org/10.1007/s00234…
