As a AA school bring forced to compete against AAA teams with classes bigger than our entire school, this would be truly ideal to all people involved.

This is absolutely the wrong decision. All other sports have 3+ classifications. Limiting track to just 2 creates a huge team advantage for large schools due to depth, and it’s discouraging athletes from smaller districts.
