I just saw this and disagree actually. It takes way more work to heal and rebuild yourself strong. It takes even more work to keep your softness as you do so.

Narcissistic leaders are threatened by talent. They want to be the smartest person in the room.

Humble leaders are drawn to talent. They surround themselves with people who make them smarter.

Great leaders grow talent. They strive to make everyone in the room smarter.

While I don't agree with everything in Abigail Shrier's new book, 'Bad Therapy' she really drives some important points home. I want you to be empowered to stand up to anyone who would pathologize, over-diagnose, or fragilize your children! The system can create big problems!

After a good couple of days talking all things compassion in sport with James N. Kirby, it's great to see this paper just published in print at the latest issue of Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology. Check it out, open access here: journals.humankinetics.com/view/journals/…

Mindfulness is not meant to only work as a head trip or altered state of consciousness. What happens when you bring mindfulness into your embodied action? Does mindful and deeply focused cello playing have a different quality? How about mindful parenting? What quality arrives?

One of the hardest but most important practices: realize that you are not the stuff inside your head. You are the awareness that decides what to do with the stuff inside your head. The ability to choose which thoughts to pursue and which to leave behind is key to everything.

Too many mindfulness teachers are afraid to acknowledge the reality of relaxation. I get it that mindfulness is more than relaxation. Yet, inviting our bodies and minds to slow down, and rest in kindness, in this very moment, can be very relaxing, and that's not a bad thing.

You've been told practicing gratitude can be helpful, but sometimes, evoking gratitude can feel impossible. Today, I was reminded how healing a felt, embodied state of gratitude can be. May you find a safe space for gratitude and self-compassion today! May you be well!

Dealing with anxiety is hard enough without the weight of shame & blame. You aren’t alone. You aren’t weak. You have a very tricky brain & a fine tuned threat detection system. Finding evidence based support and practicing self-compassion can help. Anxiety happens. So does love

If you have tried just about everything to get out from under anxiety and feeling depressed, why not treat yourself with compassion, loving kindness and care today? What might be different, if you rested and restored in self-compassion?

They say the Buddha said 'an angry person is more likely to become enlightened, because they know something is wrong.' May your anger drive you forward to personal awakening and liberation from suffering, rather than drag you backwards into rage and struggle!

They don't teach you that fear and anger are directly regulated by feelings of compassion, love, and caring, but it's real. It's how you are wired. You can train the mind and body to manifest compassion, and it gives you courage, wisdom and strength. You can get free.

If you handed the keys to your life over to your anxiety, and let your anxiety determine what you did, what would you miss? How much smaller would your life become if your anxiety ruled everything? Who's life is this, yours or your anxiety's?

I can’t pretend that I’m fine when I'm not.

Most of the time, my brain is overthinking, my mind overwhelmed, and my emotions exhausted.

Do you relate to this?

Maybe if we stopped participating in these masked scripts, we could figure out what we're really feeling.

Would you…

I read this book & there was a lot to like in it! Abigail Shrier, we should discuss what 'good therapy' is & what science tells us (aka non-politicized research). Calling out 'bad therapy' is half the battle, but we need to know when 'good therapy' or 'no therapy' are needed.
