For the 1st time since 2009, all regions have increased their military spending. This is especially worrying in countries involved in armed conflicts, such as the DRC (+126%), South Sudan (+78%), Russia (+24%), Ukraine (+51%), Saudi Arabia (+4.3%) and Israel (+24%). SIPRI

13 of the 15 biggest spenders increased their military busgets. The race is on, when what we need is a new geopolitics that leaves behind wars & violence, creating structures for global governance based on cooperation, a culture of peace, feminist principles & dialogue. #GDAMS

EU member states spent $312,8 b in 2023 (+21,3% over 2022). If we add the UK & Norway, their combined spending is $396.44 b. That is almost 4 times what Russia spends. How much more do Europeans need to spend on weapons&armies to be safe? Where does deterrence start/stop working?

In this climate of increasing unrest and tensions, with countries arms racing once again and conflicts escalating, shareholders of arms companies line their pockets, with their greed and illegitimate interests still unchecked.
