Since Toronto hospitals dropped mask mandates in favour of mask respected policy - I’ve heard many stories of patients requesting HCWs mask & being told no or experiencing push back. When there’s imbalance of power & no recourse if HCW refuses… how can a “just ask” policy work?

My tiny 25weeker caught 5 different nasty hospital-acquired infections while in the NICU (11 years ago) and has chronic lung disease and retinopathy as a result. Masks should ALWAYS be worn in the NICU. Know better, do better. This is beyond shameful.
