During the month of November, we pray in particular for the eternal repose of the faithful departed. May the Risen Lord show them His mercy, and may the hope brought by our faith in the Resurrection keep our eyes and our hearts turned towards the joy of Heaven. #GeneralAudience

Why do we hesitate to share the Good News? We respond, “My faith is personal. I prefer to keep it to myself.” Our faith is personal. It is based on our individual relationship with God. However, I would argue that our faith is NOT private. It is meant to be shared with others.

“I believe in one (communal), holy (of God), catholic (universal), and apostolic (we are sent) Church…” Nothing in our Creed says private. We are called to share the gospel message.

Many of us choose to be both IN this world and OF this world. Unfortunately, when we do God’s law becomes more and more distant, often falling out of sight altogether.

I feel my commitment to Christ who becomes incarnate in this people whom I must serve, for whom I must give my life, even though I do not yet see the splendour of the glory that I carry hidden in myself —St Oscar Romero, 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time (C), 1977 #StOscarRomero

We give lip service to God, providing him with what we think will suffice, then we go about our lives selfishly seeking to satisfy our own desires – searching for something else to satisfy us, something else to fill us.

We must drive out the misplaced priorities that clog our path to the true temple of faith. We must embrace and live out the first commandment: “I, the LORD am your God, You shall have no other gods besides me.”
