I’m very nervous about Christians being bounced into a “works” gospel on climate change: eat less beef, drive less, don’t go on holiday etc. All of these things are necessary and good, but won’t save the world. Massive, structural change and miracles are what’s needed.

Such a crucial article. Where are all the youth workers, will lead to a church with no young people. We must reverse the decline. We’re losing a generation again? Churches are desperate for youth workers. So why can’t they find any? premierchristianity.com/opinion/church…

The key misunderstanding of (historic) Christian ethics in a liberal culture comes from secular liberals tending to see all “sin” as requiring punishment or condemnation. Anything we are “free to do” must be good; and anything that’s “bad” must be banned or ostracised.

Society never fought the war on digital porn. We just woke up one day, conquered, refusing to talk about it. A literal invasion of the body snatchers took place and we all just carry on like nothing's happened.

Absolutely outstanding contribution to the #SaveTheParish debate by Frog Orr-Ewing. I agree. We need Bishops to be pastoral leaders, not executive managers; and to claw back the missional energy of local clergy in their historical parochial role.

So frustrating. Sure Start was making such positive headway on some of our thorniest social challenges- and we just scrapped it in the Austerity era without a second thought.

Just started our Disability Living Allowance application for Nora and OH my days... what a lot of work to do for not a lot of money.

As a dad, I’m learning that there are *hundreds* of factors that tilt the burden of parental responsibility onto the mother. It’s so invisible and subtle that you get to about 6 months and feel like someone’s played a trick on you. I’m exhausted and I’m still doing less.

“‘Existential gratitude’ was associated with higher “spiritual well-being”.... This finding is important considering that gratitude and spirituality have been shown to be protective factors against both anxiety and depression.” theatlantic.com/family/archive…

We told ourselves for decades that free markets and liberal societies create strong incentives for meritocratic advancement in society and hold governments accountable. Can we now put that myth to bed?

Sign on the entrance to the Children’s Ward at Poole Hospital - guess which parent is crossed out? All throughout Covid, the NHS has treated dads like we are completely irrelevant to our child’s care, and I’m getting sick of it.

I’ve decided Twitter isn’t for me. Too toxic, too addictive, not good for my health. So I’m taking a hiatus - at least while I train to be a priest at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford. Friends have my contact details if you need them. Peace x
