The UK's 'Home Office Air Force' painted in 'air superiority grey', keeps an eye on the small boat crossings.
A chartered (from a non-British company) surveillance aircraft which, (as far as I can see) is costing tax payers money and has achieved virtually nothing. Thoughts?

Odd how those newspapers in recent days sending out their photographers to shoot pix of 'speeding' cyclists don't end up with pix like this one I took in London yesterday.

As a cyclist and driver I donโ€™t object to this.

But I am surprised the Government thinks itโ€™s a good use of parliamentary time when more people are killed by cows than cyclists.

This guy may well swan into Downing street with a supermajority and his total aspirations basically end there.

No vision. No hope. No interest in change.

I have no problems with a law on death by dangerous cycling โ€“ everyone must obey the rules of the road.

But in 2022, 1760+ people were killed on UK roads โ€“ 3 involved someone being hit by a bike.

Whatโ€™s the gov plan for stopping 5 people being killed a day by motor vehicles?

The irony of moving to a cycling city is weโ€™ve never walked more in our lives.

Endless meandering strolls made desirable because Delftโ€™s streets arenโ€™t drowning in cars.

The greatest trick the auto industry ever pulled was convincing the world walking and cycling canโ€™t coexist.

Yes, apparently, it's *cyclists* who are turning UK roads into death traps, by being responsible for around 0.1% of all road fatalities on average.

Speed limits are based on motor vehicles, which have far greater mass than bikes - and can therefore cause far greater damage at any given speed.

So this isn't comparing like with like. Speed limits are there to manage risk. At any speed, a car is far more dangerous than a bike.

If we want to tackle traffic danger, which blights communities up and down the country every day, there's a great list here. A Road Safety Investigation Branch, led by data, not generating headlines, would recommend any of these things as priorities in keeping our roads safer

Creating a specific law against dangerous cycling wonโ€™t make the roads less safe. But if you were to write a list of the best ways to actually improve road safety, it wouldnโ€™t even be on the first A4 page. Itโ€™s 95% displacement activity.
