As we enjoy our Labor Day weekend, let’s remember that one of the greatest contributions of the labor movement was ending child labor. Let’s also remember that Jack Ladyman voted to repeal protections against child labor in the last session. I’ll vote to restore them.

After the rain stopped I got out and knocked a bunch more doors. Going from corner to corner of my district really brings home just how wonderful our community really is.

Arkansas workers are the backbone of our communities. Today and every day, they deserve the respect of their neighbors, and importantly, the respect of their State Representative. I will always fight for working Arkansans and put them and their families first.

On my dad’s side, there were three generations of tow boat workers counting him. On my mom’s side, my grandma was a school teacher and my grandfather sold life insurance door to door. I know first hand the struggles of working folks and I’ll remember them in the legislature.

School shootings have been allowed to become our horrible new normal because too many people with power find it easier to pander to extremists then take reasonable steps to prevent them. It’s well past time for that to change.

The best thing we can do to lower maternal and infant mortality is expand Medicaid for moms and babies. Unfortunately, Governor Sanders continues to oppose doing so and the super majority in the legislature keeps enabling her. We can fire her enablers in November though.

We just had a school shooting in Georgia on Wednesday. Another one just occurred in Maryland today. My heart goes out to everyone impacted but I know there are no words that can be offered to make this any better. We don’t have to live like this in America, and this has to stop.
