My highlight from #innotrans2024 John Smith of GB Railfreight 'unveiling' his Class 99. Of the 133 vehicles on 3.5 km of track at the show, sadly this was the only UK rolling stock.
Produced this for my editorial to highlight BBC Panorama inaccurate HS2 programme BBC map reinforces false perception that HS2 phase 1 only goes to Birmingham when reality is it is a bypass for WCML south and only 1/3 HS2 trains go to Birmingham. Awful sloppy reporting
Always enjoy canal boat driving in the dark. Tonight to boaters fireworks & bonfire before going to Edinburg on Linlithgow Canal Centre boat StMagdalene to be on of 18 boats in the Flotilla of Lights tomorrow whatsoninedinburgh.co.uk/event/106089-r…
Good to see there's now a LEGO Paddle Steamer though it's a shame that it's not Paddle Steamer Waverley
Immediately after finishing its summer Clyde season at Ayr Paddle Steamer Waverley started its repositioning voyage to Falmouth this evening - note shutters over the windows. Bon voyage Waverley
Proud to be part of team Linlithgow Canal Centre which yesterday organised a large flotilla on Scottish Canals Union Canal from Winchburgh to Linlithgow followed by a boater's gathering at Linlithgow as part of LUCS's 50th anniversary celebrations. Was great day for everyone who took part
Disappointing but perfectly understandable that Paddle Steamer Waverley sailing from Portsmouth cancelled today. Pretty rough yesterday when took ferry from IoW to Southampton where the old lady was dwarfed by a Disney ship
Enjoyed my day at Newton Aycliffe today. Well done Hitachi Rail (ENG) for opening up their plant to the public to show folk that trains are not just boxes on wheels. All those I spoke to were impressed Be good if this was an annual event.
Today I asked Heidi Labour about Climate Change Committee view that aviation can't be significantly decarbonised and Royal Academy report that half UK’s agricultural land needed if all UK aviation used sustainable aviation fuels. She took issue with that. Sad to see politics trumping science
Good to see masts on the new Levenmouth branch as part of Network Rail Scotland 's steady rolling programme of electrification.
