It's only taken me 28 years to try and combine my two slides of Comet Hyakutake to show the extent of the long tail I saw that morning almost into Coma Berenices. There was so much structure visible, it was incredible. My favourite comet so far.

The difference technology advances and knowhow has had on our amazing hobby over many years. Similar shots of Comets Hale-Bopp and NEOWISE taken over water, separated by 23 years.

A fantastic talk from Kelsi Singer from the New Horizons team, zooming over to NNHS Astronomy Section last night, telling us all about the Arrokoth encounter.

Due to the comments about Comet Hyakutake, I've dug out and quickly re-processed those image. A wide angle view showing most of the tails seen with the naked eye and a close view showing a little bit more structure.

Pity us amateurs didn't have the technology now available back in the mid 90's. An old 3M 1000 ISO slide image photographed, home-processed and now digitally re-processed.
Just think what Comet Hale Bopp would have come out like in today's images.

Two panel mosaic of The Sun's eastern limb this afternoon. Looks like a nice active region might be about to be presented to us.
More of my Sun images from today are on my Flickr site:

I haven't managed to do any solar imaging since last October. As there was a clearish period this afternoon and I had a bit of free time, I managed to capture a few images.

More reprocessing of real data. The Crab nebula in the constellation of Taurus. The remains of a star that went supernova (Literally blew itself apart) in 1054, which was witnessed and recorded by Chinese astronomers. This is 6,500 light years from Earth.

If you can't beat them, join them. Here's my image of yesterdays total solar eclipse seen from the Grand Canyon, with icebergs floating in the Colorado River. Is that reAIlistic enough?😜🀣 What a flipping crazy world this is.

A favourite of mine, NGC4565. An edge on spiral galaxy in Coma Berenices. It lies about 40 million light years from us and it is roughly 234,000 light years in diameter. The dark dust lanes in the spiral arms are very distinct.

Live streaming the 2024 total solar eclipse at Northampton Natural History Society, Astro Section last night, then presenting our trip to Jackson Hole in Wyoming in 2017. A great eclipse evening, despite not being there. Great to see folks images popping up today. 😍
