The County strengths & challenges identified in Herefordshire Council’s Plan, adopted today, highlight a major dilemma.

Its greatest asset is being destroyed by its key economic sector.

Difficult to see how this could have succeeded.

Regulators have considerable discretion in applying the law and the Regulations specifically refer to being advice led.

The question is rather whether the law is sufficient to deal with the problem.

Sunk criticises ‘environmental dogma’ as he is drenched by rain calling the General Election

Rain that scientists today confirmed today was much heavier and more prolonged in UK over the last 18 months because of climate change

Who’s the one who is really being dogmatic, Rishi?

English rainfall in week up till Tuesday.

Wet across Central & Eastern areas, much drier in the north.

Yesterday’s deluge pretty much guarantees May is going to end up another wetter than average month for England.

First chance to have a look at Severn Trent’s live sewage spill map after some heavy rain.

It’s got busy!

Dozens,if not hundreds of sites been discharging untreated sewage into rivers.

Here’s a link if you want to check. They’ve made it tricky to find!

Another very widespread heavy rainfall event.

All these places have seen 20mm+ in last 48 hours.

30-40mm very widespread
50-70mm widespread in NW England
Some much higher spot totals.

Don’t have any stats but feels very unusual for May.

Lots of factors in Sunak’s decision to throw the dice, but suspect this was a consideration. Potential for energy bill increases and terrible agricultural yields feeding into food prices mean inflation could still prove sticky. It’s the climate theory of everything again.

Bad time to be backpedaling on climate Rishi

Masterful timing on the day it was confirmed human climate change is making our rainfall heavier.

A month’s worth of rain in the last 24 hours for a number of locations.

Expect more places to be added as the heavy rain moves slowly north.

The waters around Europe are currently among the most anomalously warm on the planet, alongside those of the mid-latitude North Pacific.

This encourages airmasses to be warmer, but also higher in moisture content. So when it rains, it rains heavier, or for longer, or both.

This is quite an astonishing mess.

Tory HE policy in last ten years:

1. Introduce unsustainable tuition model
2. Cut govt. finding to universities
3. Force universities to rely on international fees to survive
4. Curb international students to align with political agenda

👏

Nice graphic showing the expected huge and widespread rainfall expected.

This only shows forecast rain from now till tomorrow. Quite a few locations further south have already seen a month’s worth of rain.
