You may have wondered why we at Daughters for Earth have chosen the hummingbird as our symbol. Well, hummingbirds embody beauty, grace, love, hope, & harmony with nature across so many cultures.

In Native American, Mexican and Caribbean cultures, the Hummingbird’s beauty, agility, and association with flowers is believed to reflect the positive and uplifting nature of love. And so, in choosing the Hummingbird as our symbol, we choose love.

To tackle a problem as large as climate change, we need both science and Indigenous wisdom. Our favourite quote this week comes from Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim’s 2019 TED Talk.
