#NationalWalkingMonth starts today! So if you want to get out for a walk with a friendly group and help take care of the community, why not join this morning's litter pick in Darnall?
Attercliffe & Darnall Centre of Mission
Thank you Darnall Well Being for hosting necas an Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre embedded researcher for the last two years. It's been great fun and we've delivered some important work.
Read all about Dave Hembrough's Civic Fellowship with us & DESA! As our CEO, Lucy Melleney says, this partnership puts young people 'at the heart of community-based research and can be a powerful asset in developing our understanding of needs and aspirations'. 💚
Our Fun Fitness sessions with Sheffield United Community Foundation are back on tomorrow. Two new attendees came along last time and really enjoyed themselves – if you’re a local woman, why not come along and give it a try, too? Sessions are for all abilities and supported by our volunteers!

We're glad to have been able to support Parkinson's UK with this awareness event about Parkinsons for people in Darnall today. 😊
#Collaboration
We're looking forward to sharing an informative session in the community with Parkinson's UK later this morning.

Sharing findings from our Community Researchers at this Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre event on Tuesday showcased why it matters to do research with, rather than on, communities. Our Community Researcher collaboration with Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre has trained 15 local people, who've done 27 interviews already!👏
An opportunity to join our team, along with MCDT, People Focused Group & Citizen Network at Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, to talk about the Peckham Experiment and communities in healthcare. Our founder, Dr Jack Czauderna, will be there too!
Book your place using the link in the post below.
Well done to Sheffield Community Contact Tracers for having their paper on Covid Confidence published in BMJ_Open.👏 As one of the organisations who ran these sessions with them, we know how impactful they were - so it's great that this paper shares the evaluation to a wider audience.

Our video from Somali Dance last week got a great reaction – and here are the drums that the group dance to. The group are back again this evening, 5-7pm. Women of all ethnicities are welcome to come and learn this traditional dance style!
#Community
Monika from Sheffield United Community Foundation has training tomorrow, so there won’t be a women’s Fun Fitness session this week. She will be back with us next week, though, so let us know if you would like to come along then!
The internship is part of a Westfield Health sponsored civic fellowship in partnership w/ Darnall Well Being & DESA and is led by our very own researcher in residence Dave Hembrough - a big thank you to all those involved, and of course to our fab interns💚 #CommunityCollaboration
Congratulations to our youth interns who celebrated the end of their programme yesterday
🏡 | They worked with Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre researchers to explore opportunities and barriers for physical activity & employability in Darnall, around themes of finance, family, friends & school
Thank you so much to 💙 500 Together 💙 for helping us to support a local family with this donation, which has made a big difference to their quality of life. 🥰
Well done to Dave Hembrough, our embedded researcher from Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, for a second insightful year working with young local interns on this project! 👏

A bit later in the month than usual, but here’s a look back at March – another productive month for us. We’re particularly happy that we’re reaching such a diverse range of ages and ethnicities. 💚

Absolutely brilliant - an example of the role of community anchors in supporting arts and creative activity to address health inequality and why most community anchors don’t need to rely on #socialprescribing 1/2
