A great article from Senator Senator Colin Deacon 🇨🇦🇺🇦 - Canada can walk and chew gum at the same time; just as we're focusing on reducing new emissions we have to also work on removing past emissions.

There is no net-zero without permanent carbon removal and a target helps drive forward planning and accountability - helping to define what sort of future carbon removal plays in 🇨🇦. Everyone should have a say in that through a consultation #cdnpoli theglobeandmail.com/business/comme…

Carbon removal, the act of permanently removing carbon emissions from the atmosphere, is an economic opportunity for Canada, says Na’im Merchant in The Globe and Mail today. Investing in carbon removal could create 90,000 jobs in Canada and add over $100-billion to our GDP by 2050.

I got to visit Carbon Engineering today and tour their innovation centre - great to see how they’re pushing ahead domestically and abroad. 🇨🇦 needs to be funding more carbon removal innovation and demonstration projects. The best way to get to net-zero is to get things built.

How do we make a positive investment climate in 🇨🇦 for DAC? I got the chance to tell carbonexpocanada last week about: ➡️the power of national carbon removal targets ➡️how gov't carbon removal procurement can work ➡️the need for more 'learning by doing' and demonstration funding

Why care about a carbon removal target if you're skeptical of the technology? There's no net-zero without carbon removal and the industry is being built all around us. Being at the table ensures it's used for good and not to delay emission reductions. nationalobserver.com/2024/09/24/opi…

There is no net-zero without carbon removal and Jonathan Wilkinson 🇨🇦 is showing another reason 🇨🇦 is becoming a leader in carbon removal. Congrats to Carbon Engineering, Arca & others on new funding that gets us to net-zero and negative emissions quicker! canada.ca/en/natural-res…

The Government of Canada has announced its climate targets for 2035. We applaud the government for recognizing the urgent need to address residual emissions, through carbon removal, in addition to reducing emissions. 🌎✨ Read our press release: carbonremoval.ca/press-release-…

Third isn't bad but I know we can be first. 🇨🇦 has an opportunity to build the sector and ensure it's built responsibly. New programs and funding opportunities from government over the last year are an amazing start and I know we're on the precipice of something big.

An absolutely packed room for Carbon Removal Day! Canada has all the right features to be a leader in carbon removal - and enthusiasm is definitely one of them.

This. is. huge. Mark Carney has realized that we shouldn't just be part of the carbon removal conversation - but that we should be leading it. That's what these commitments will do. 🇨🇦 can and should be an economic and technological hub for carbon removal.

TIER helps fund Emissions Reduction Alberta, in turn making sure that Alberta is at the forefront of deploying innovative tech, like carbon removal. If we’re changing TIER don’t abdicate the competitive advantage that ERA gives the province #cdnpoli calgaryherald.com/opinion/column…

We need to talk about nation building projects, but we can't lose sight of the things we can do today that achieve those same goals. Carbon removal technologies are part of that equation and some are ready to go today.
