I get that the left has romanticized the 60s -- and esp 1968 -- for 5+ decades. I just hope it remembers the most imp political event of that year was the election of Richard Nixon (along with a large groundswell of support for segregationist George Wallace outside of the South).

I really don’t know what’s going to happen at Columbia — or elsewhere — tonight. But I’m confident that none of it will make Israelis, Palestinians, Jews, or anyone else safer. 💔

Being Jewish right now means being told obvious antisemitism isn’t antisemitism. Having to prioritize which kind of antisemitism is worse. Worrying the very real antisemitism we experience we will be weaponized by other antisemites to do even more antisemitism. Exhausted.

It is so wildly offensive for these Columbia protesters to call their DoorDash demands “humanitarian aid.”

Among principles of Martin Luther King’s conception of non violent resistance was the need to gain the friendship and understanding of the opponent. That’s not what’s happening tonight at Columbia. And it’s a missing ingredient in many of the angry protests nationwide.

Extremism begets extremism. You think this is bad. You know how to make this ten times worse?

Elect Trump.

Trump will make it a core priority to try and get the far left to act in as unreasonable and indefensible a way as possible.

He’ll pit Americans against one another. Including Jews against Muslims while making both groups less safe. 2/

Meanwhile, he’ll embolden Bibi’s government, assuming he’s still in power, in a way that you cannot imagine.
